Cat Rescue Sanctuary
The Cat rescue Sanctuary is a new charity established in 2006, to rescue and house
homeless cats, to give them the proper medical care needed and to protect them.
Our sanctuary is located in the heart of citrus orchards in Central Israel and is
home to between 300 – 400 abandoned cats and several dogs. Most of our animals were
victims of the Second Lebanese War and the Disengagement from the Gaza Strip.
We offer a home to any cat who needs one, be he or she old, young, healthy or injured
– we aren’t prejudiced we love them all.
Our sanctuary is securely fenced and our cats are free to roam between their houses
(plastic sheds) and their play areas.
On rainy days they find shelter in large enclosed areas full of mattresses, cushions
and blankets.
There’s nothing more rewarding than to see how calm and contented the cats are;
how far they’ve come from the fight for survival on the streets; how “unafraid”
they’ve become of visitors to the sanctuary because they know that no-one can harm
them now and that they are safe.
All kittens that arrive to the sanctuary are segregated from the rest of the cats
because of their young age and also because of the intensity of their immediate
treatment, be it medical or bottle feeding.
The kittens are cared for indoors – in the sanctuary’s caravan. As soon as they
are old enough and healthy enough we try to find loving homes for them .Those that
stay with us are neutered and released into the open with all the other cats.
Our disabled and more elderly cats are kept in a separate area of the sanctuary.
They are still free to roam, but don’t have to worry about competing for their space
with their younger and healthier peers.
We have just “opened” another special area – for our
. The area is deliberately smaller so that they can memorize
all the landmarks without it being overwhelming for them.
Most of the time they just take the easy option, and laze in the sunshine.
All members of the charity are dedicated to our no kill policy and fight for the
life of every cat that reaches us, whatever the situation, whatever the medical
costs.
All members of the charity are volunteers
and no-one receives a salary.
The charity exists solely on donations.
The daily running of the sanctuary is performed by volunteers and the charity members.
All animals homed in the sanctuary are neutered and vaccinated and are under the
care of the charity’s vet.
We desperately need your help, either by volunteering at the sanctuary or by making
a financial donation.
